An unfortunate sequence of events

I'm now almost a filmer.

I gave in to the temptation and bought a camera that can shoot 8fps...sufficient for skateboarding sequences. I gave it my first shot tonight, and it's fun, and it's a good feeling when you manage to get the shot and the land.

Potter was popping out of pivot fakies, and it looked insane.

Hell hath no fury...

...Like long handrails and harsh Sudbury style ground.
Broken board and a bloodied arm, and no land.

If you build it...

Skateboarding's best new trend is making your own spots. I love it, makes perfect spots and skater built objects readily available.

Obviously, Sudbury is behind every trend ever, so we just started doing this. Rob, Potter, and I started making some stuff at foundation off Notre Dame. That spot is going to be rad when everything is made.

Frank worked really hard to hit this polejam, he deserved this photo more than anyone.

Go Skateboarding

Yesterday was the first day of summer, better known as Go Skateboarding day. Aila Galleri held a small demo at the park, a lot of tricks went down, it was a really good time. Lots of free stuff was given out, and games of skate were played.

I took on my usual role as photographer, and spent most of my time snapping at hammers down the 8 set.

Corey's frontside flip was a huge crowd pleaser, super smooth and done really quickly too.

Rob has been claiming a backtail on this hubba since day one, and he picked a good day to pull it out.

Work on the previously mentioned magazine is really getting under way. It's looking promising.

It's being titled Kink and we're aiming for an early August release. We're going to cover a lot of skateboarding, as well as art and music that relates to skateboarding.

Anyway, went skating with Potter today, shot a whole bunch of photos.

Frontside rock on the ex-ghetto banks. Fun spot, gnarly as fuck bank.

Park Shark

I spend too much time at the park, just skating and taking photos. I'm also saving a lot of photos for the previously mentioned magazine project, so it's slow.

Some people were skating the set, so I took some pictures. Here's Corey with a switch heel.

Cancer

I went to see Rammer tonight, an intense show. That band fucking rips.

It was hard to shoot because of dim lighting and I ended up sifting through photos for sharp ones when I got home. This one isn't sharp, but it caught my attention the most because it really gives a feel of their energy.

Wolven Ancestry opened, and I went into the show not expecting much since I'm not a huge fan of black metal, but they were a lot of fun to watch.

8

I'm mostly posting this because I haven't posted anything in well over a month.

Took some pictures with Westley today at the park, that kid's got style.

Smith up the down rail at the park. Nuts.

Also, it looks like some people will be starting up a small local skate magazine of sorts. Lots of details are foggy right now, and things will definitely clear up soon enough. It should be a lot of fun.

Mini madness.

Pierre came up for a day and we went to Shred Central because the forecast called for rain. We left into sunny skies, but that's okay.

Everyone knows Pierre has got insane pop, and he keeps it on minis.

This kickflip was like head high and perfect.

I can't think of snappy titles

I'm really shitty with Illustrator, so I'm surprized I came out with something decent from this project.

I know how cheesy the background looks, but I like it and it was the best way to keep contract around the edges.

Busy times...

Harsh lack of updates, but that's because of a harsh lack of interesting work being done.

Here's a stencil I did on my griptape, out of a compulsion to have something on every board I ever own.

I haven't been in a darkroom in a long time...

I really want to print this photo really big. That's all I care about.

Airport fun

I met Colleen at the airport last night, just to keep her and Chantal company while they waited for their plane to Vancouver. Kind of jealous, but I dealt with it.

At around 4:30 in the morning this random Spanish drunkard begins talking to us, and really doesn't say much at all. After realizing that we're not really interested, he walks back to his table, put his head down, and begins puking up the red wine he's been pounding back all evening. Epic.

Since I'm socially inadequate and don't know how to react to certain situations, I did all I knew how to do and I drew him. It took me 3 minutes, but I'm stoked on how it turned out. I need to draw people in public more often.

New shirt design

I worked for a long time on this, and I'm not totally into it. I've never done anything like this before, though, so I'm stoked on that I came up with.

The flowers were scanned from a piece of paper I bought earlier this year in hopes of using it for something, and I finally got to use it. Stoked.

First post.

Who'd have thought I'd make a blog about nothing at all.

It's simply here as a place to post random photos, drawings, design, links, and whatever else I might feel like entertaining the few potential readers of this blog with.

This first post is a link to a page that I've found really interesting. Type basics explained through sketches. It's a good read, entertaining if you know them, informative if you don't.
